Your identity

Do I need an account?

No. The first time you open ThisOrThat, it gives you a random identity, like "Sunny Otter 🦦". There's no sign-up, email or password.

Will my identity follow me to a new phone?

Yes. It's stored in iCloud Keychain, so it shows up on your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account, and it survives deleting and reinstalling the app.

Can I change my name or animal?

Tap your avatar on the Decisions screen and choose Shuffle for a new name and animal.

Invites

How do I invite someone?

Only a decision's creator can invite people. Each invite link works for exactly one person and expires after 7 days, so send a fresh link to each friend.

Copy the link, open ThisOrThat, tap your avatar, and paste it under Got an invite link?

The link says it's already used or expired.

Ask the decision's creator for a new one.

Who can change what

What can everyone in a decision do?

Anyone in a decision can add, rename, reweight or remove criteria, and vote on every one of them.

What can only the creator do?

The creator can edit the title, notes and options, swap sides, remove people, and delete the decision. Everyone else can leave it whenever they like.

Notifications

What will I be notified about?

When someone joins or changes a decision you're in, you get a short summary of what happened, at most once every few minutes per decision. You're never notified about your own changes.

How do I turn them off?

In the iPhone Settings app, go to Apps › ThisOrThat › Notifications.

Your data

How do I delete my data?

Tap your avatar, then Delete my data. This removes your identity and every decision you created. The privacy policy has the details.
